Mike Marlar Sails Away with Hall of Fame Classic Win!

(August 22, 2026) Mike Marlar dominated Saturday’s Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series Hall of Fame Classic. Marlar collected $12,000 for his efforts. Marlar won the second heat race and drew “1” for the pole position for the 50-lap event. Marlar started alongside Cory Hedgecock. (MRM Racing Photo)

When the green flag waved, Marlar quickly shot to the lead over Hedgecock. Hedgecock remained close behind for the first several laps before Marlar began to pull away. Dale McDowell overtook Hedgecock for second and tried to chase down Marlar. Jimmy Owens was the big mover of the race by overtaking Sam Seawright in the closing laps to take third from the seventh starting position. McDowell managed to get within a few care lengths as Marlar encountered lap traffic. McDowell was no match for Marlar in a race that went caution free.

The street stock feature also went caution free as Eric Hughes held off Robbie Comer for the win. Comer was in close contact with Hughes until the last few laps of the race. Wyatt Hamby had a strong outing finishing in third.

Austin Maples dominated the front wheel drive feature. Maples pulled out to a big lead as Don Sandiford worked his way up to second. The only thing that slowed down Maples was a lap 17 caution. Maples pulled away again on the restart to secure the win. Kaven Greene held on to take third place.

The next event at Smoky Mountain Speedway will be the Topless Outlaws Late Model Series Roger Kerr Memorial on Saturday, September 5th.
