MARYVILLE, Tennessee- Bobby Giffin won Saturday nights A-feature in the Limited Late Models at Smoky Mountain Speedway. Giffin started on the pole and never looked back as he went on to lead all 30 laps. “ I really didn’t know I was walking away like that. I saw lap traffic and thought it may be an issue for a bit but I just held my line and drove through”, said Giffin. The A feature had to be completely restarted three times on the night for multiple wrecks involving multiple cars. Once drivers were able to complete a full lap on the third and final restart, the race went caution free the rest of the way.
Derik Duggan was able to pick up the win in the Mini Stock class in what may have been the closest finish all year long in any class at Smoky Mountain Speedway. David Singleton was able to grab the early lead for the first 6 laps until pole sitter Duggan was able to dive to the bottom of the track to make the pass and seemed to be uncatchable until 4 laps to go when Duggan had problems with his car.

Duggan waived Singleton by on the front stretch almost certainly giving Singleton the victory. Seconds later Duggan’s car came alive once again allowing him to run down Singleton and eventually win the race by less than a foot, “My car died on me on the front stretch and I literally had no power so I just waived him by and then out of nowhere, a second later, it kicked back on and I did what I could to run him down”, said Duggan
Mike Lewis picked up the win in the Topless Modified class. After an early battle for the lead with Keith Gregory, Lewis was able to walk away and secure a comfortable victory.
Warren McMahan took home the checkered flag in the 15 lap Thunder and Lightning A Feature. McMahan, who started on the pole, fell back to second early on when Dale Watson jumped out in front. McMahan was able to regain the lead for good when Watson was forced to pull into the infield with only two laps remaining due to car problems. “I’d rather be lucky than good any day”, said McMahan. “Any win is a good win no matter how you get it”.
Travis Reno was able to secure the victory in the Street Stock division while Marty Phillips won the Mod Mini A Feature.
