USCS Outlaw Thunder presented by K&N Filters sprint cars and Southern All Star Super Late Models co-headline “Race Rockin’ the Smokies” presented by Classic Rock WIMZ 103.5 racing card at Smoky Mountain Speedway this Saturday (April 23rd)
Monday, April 19, 2016 – Atlanta, GA – The United Sprint Car Series “Outlaw Thunder” Tour presented by K&N Filters (www.uscsracing.com) winged sprint cars are set to invade the 4/10 mile dirt oval at Smoky Mountain Speedway this Saturday night (April 23rd) at 7:00 pm as co-headliners of the “Race Rockin the Smokies” presented by Classic Rock WIMZ 103.5 FM. The stars and cars of the Southern All Stars Super Late Models Series share top billing with the USCS winged sprint drivers on the racing card.
The event will be the fifth annual visit for the USCS sprint car drivers to Smoky Mountain Speedway. This is the one and only visit scheduled during the 2016 and 20th anniversary season for the USCS presented by K&N Filters winged sprint cars to the speedway. The event at SMS will award USCS National points as well as points in the USCS Mid South Thunder and USCS Southern Thunder regional series title chases. The USCS Mid South Thunder regional series consists of races scheduled in Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee. The Southern Thunder regional series races in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, East Tennessee and Carolinas. .
The USCS drivers will compete for a chance to be the first one to the www.rockauto.com USCS victory lane and pickup the $2500 top prize on Saturday night. The USCS and Southern All Star Super Late Models will be joined by the www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series winged mini sprints at Smoky Mountain Speedway as well
This event, which is the second half of an East Tennessee double-header for the United Sprint Car Series and www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Mini Sprints, is expected to bring top winged outlaw type sprint car drivers from at least seven states to the track. Those pre-entered drivers include 11-time USCS National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee and his team-mate Morgan Turpen from Cordova, Tennessee who was the 2015 National Champion plus she claimed the title in both the Mid South and Southern Thunder regional series as well. The 2015 USCS Smokey Mountain Speedway USCS “Thunder in the Smokies Champion, Marshall Skinner from Marion, Arkansas is also entered.
The exotic fire breathing, alcohol burning, 700 horsepower open wheel USCS sprint cars weight just 1,300 pounds, Winged sprint cars are pound for pound the World’s most powerful short track race cars.
Saturday night’s USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters sprint car action will feature a full program of racing that kicks off with test and tune hot laps. The hot laps will be followed by the Hoosier Speed Dash that showcases the top six cars from the previous USCS main event in an edge-of-your-seat six-car shootout. The qualifying heat races are next on the racing card. The evening’s grand finale will be the USCS presented by K&N Filters A-main event.
