2014 MINI-STOCK RULES

**!! THIS DIVISION IS INTENDED TO BE AN IN-EXPENSIVE ENTRY-LEVEL DIVISION UTILIZING REAR WHEEL DRIVE 4-CYLINDER CARS AND FRONT WHEEL DRIVE CARS!!!**

REAR WHEEL DRIVE

 BODY:

¤ Must be stock appearing and acceptable to the Technical Inspector. Must run stock roof for model claimed. May build doors, quarters, and fenders, but must resemble stock.
¤ Aftermarket nose and tail are allowed. No rear spoilers or side skirts. Stock spoiler OK. May enclose interior. Must have lettering on nosepiece that match model claimed (Pinto, Celica, Mustang, etc)

ROLLCAGE:

¤ Must be minimum 1.50″ OD tubing, minimum .095″ steel wall thickness. Must have minimum 3 driver side door bars and 2 passenger side door bars. Must have support bars behind drivers and must be welded to frame. Must have minimum 3 windshield protection bars. Window nets are recommended. Must have approved aluminum racing seat.

CHASSIS:

¤ STOCK. May tie together above floor pan. Must have stock floor pan and firewall.

SUSPENSION:

¤ Must be stock and match model claimed. Racing springs allowed, 5″ diameter minimum. Jack bolts and/or lowering blocks allowed. Steel body, non-adjustable racing shocks allowed. Must be mounted in STOCK location. Must use stock upper AND lower control arms. Caster/Camber adjustment plates allowed.

REAREND:

¤ Stock OEM, may lock. No independent rear suspensions.

STEERING:

¤ Stock box or stock rack. No aftermarket racks. May use heim joints on tie-rod ends.¤ Quick release racing steering wheel recommended.

BRAKES:

¤ Steel caliper front, drum ONLY rear.

WHEELBASE:

¤ Stock for model claimed, 1″ tolerance. 92″ minimum.

WHEELS:

¤ Steel 13×8″ maximum. Bead locks OK.

TIRES:

¤ 13×8″ Hoosier or American Racer. Any compound. 100lb weight break for approved D.O.T street tire.
WEIGHT:
¤ 1lb per CC – 2400CC Max – 2300lb minimum. D.O.T street tires: 2200lb minimum
¤ 5cc tolerance for wear. Must post weight on A-pillar.
¤ Factory aluminum head – add 25lb. Must be placed firewall forward.

ENGINE:

A. Stock 4 cylinder engine for model claimed. No rotary, turbo charged, or supercharged engines. No mid or rear engine cars. Engine must remain in stock location, NO setback.B. Block – Steel OEM block only. Max .060 overbore. .005 tolerance. Zero deck. Plus or minus .003 tolerance.Balance only.
D. Rods – Steel OEM rod only. May use aftermarket rod bolts. Must use stock length rods for motor claimed. Stock stroke only. Rod may be bushed, balance only.
E. Cam – Any flat tappet hydraulic cam. Must have hydraulic working lifters. No metal added or taken away.
F. Head – Stock OEM head only. May cut head; No angle milling; Single springs; Steel retainers; Adjustable cam sproket allowed. Stock diameter valves.
G. Piston – Any flat top piston. Toyota 1600 and 1800 may run .235 dome max. 20R may run .125 dome max.
H. Intake – Stock OEM only. Fuel injection intake allowed. 2-1/4 spacer max, no porting allowed.
I. Exhaust – May run aftermarket header or stock manifold.
J. Oil Pan – Wet sump only.
K. Carburetor – Must pass no-go gauge. Holley 4412 500cfm 2 barrel max. No fuel injection systems.
L. Flywheel – Steel
M. Clutch – Stock type
N. Pressure Plate – Stock replacement as came from factory.
O. No forced induction, boxes, ductwork.

TRANSMISSION:

¤ Any stock OEM, manual or automatic. Must have working stock type clutch, all forward gears and reverse.

IGNITION:
¤ Any stock OEM. No traction control. Battery MUST be securely mounted.

FUEL:
¤ Must run racing fuel cell or track approved tank attached with a minimum of two (2) 2″ wide steel straps. Gas only, no nitrous. Racing gas must float a maximum specified gravity of 750.

SAFETY:
¤ All cars and drivers’ safety equipment must meet general safety rules described in the General Rules section of the Smoky Mountain Speedway.

PROTESTS:
¤ Any car found illegal following qualifications or heats must prove to be legal before starting feature event.
¤ Any driver who is protested and refuses teardown, will be considered illegal and will start on the rear of their next feature event, regardless of qualifying position.
¤ Visual: $50 (Track Retains 100%)
¤ Pull Valve Cover: $50 (Track Retains 50%)
¤ Pull Head: $250 (Track Retains 30%)
¤ Complete: $400 (Track Retains 30%)
¤ Fuel: $50 (Track Retains 100%)

 

FRONT WHEEL DRIVE

 

CLUTCH:
¤ Stock type size and weight for car.

TIRE:
¤ D.O.T Tires only; excludes D.O.T race tires.

ROLL CAGE:
¤ Four Point minimum with 3 driver door bars minimum.

SEAT:
¤ Aluminum racing seat and safety harnesses are required.

BODY:
¤ Doors must be welded shut, remove all trim, upholstery and glass.

ENGINE:
¤ Four cylinder stock for make and model. (no turbos or superchargers)

HEADER:
¤ May run header.

INTAKE:
¤ May run cold-air intake.

CAM:

¤ Roller cam, dual cam, 16 valves must weigh 2350lbs minimum; 12 valve must weigh 2150lbs minimum.

BODY/DRIVELINE & SUSPENSION:

¤ Must remain stock, in stock location for make and model.

SPRINGS:

¤ Stock springs may be cut.

STANDARD TRANSMISSION:

¤Must have a 2″ inspection hole in bellhousing.

WHEEL:

¤ 7″ max

MISCELLANEOUS:

¤ Must have Haynes or Chilton Manual for Teardown.
¤ Rear of cars MUST be enclosed.

PROTEST FEES:

Visual: $50 (Track Retains 100%)

Clutch: $100 (Track Retains 100%)Engine: $300 (Track Retains 30%)
