Scott Treadway Powers
to American Big Rig Series Victory
(August
2, 2025) For the first time in over 35 years, the big
diesel-powered tracks to the East Tennessee dirt as the American
Big Rig Series made its way to Smoky Mountain Speedway. Scott
Treadway came away the winner in front of a record-setting crowd.

Following heat races, Jamison Gibson led the field to the green
flag. Treadway started on the outside of the front row. Gibson
grabbed the early lead with Treadway close behind. Marshall Davis
and Brant Arnold battled for the third spot with Arnold taking
the spot before spinning a few laps later. Meanwhile, Treadway
battled Gibson for the lead on lap 3. The two battled for the
lead for two laps before Treadway took the lead. As Treadway pulled
away in the closing laps, the battle for third was intense as
several drivers took turns holding the position. Arnold got by
Mike Morgan and Michael Ceasar in the final laps to finally take
third. Treadway cruised to the win as Gibson held off Arnold for
second.
The sportsman late model feature began with Terry Poore and
Mitchell Childress on the front row. Following an aborted start,
the field was re-racked and the race got underway. Poore drove
into turn 1 and pushed up into the path of Childress. As those
two tried to settle things, third place starter Colby Horner took
advantage of the opening and zipped by both Poore and Childress
to power into the lead. As Poore settled into second, Childress
lost several spots in the near dust-up. Horner remained unchallenged
in taking the win over Poore. Adma Mitchell rallied from fifth
to finish third.
Some new names were starting up front in the street stock feature.
Austin Byrd and Bobbie Petty led the field to green. Byrd took
the initial lead as Petty quickly settled into second. Nick Baker
and Sam Burgess mixed things up for third. Byrd never looked back
in winning a caution-free race. Petty was second and Burgess finished
third.
The next race at Smoky Mountain Speedway will take place on
Saturday, August 16 when the Souther Thunder Super Dirt Series
makes its first visit. Sportsman late models, street stocks, and
front wheel drive will also be in action.
